The Morrigan

For Irish Deities Contest

This is Morrigan and Cu Chulainn. Morrigan is a figure from Irish mythology who appears to have once been a goddess, although she is not explicitly referred to as such in the texts. She is associated with sovereignty, prophecy, war, and death on the battlefield. She sometimes appears in the form of a crow, flying above the warriors on the battlefield.

Cu Chulainn is part of the Ulster cycle of Irish myth. The Morrigan plays a significant role in the development of this hero, first appearing to him when he is but a young boy, and several times through out his life.

At one of their meetings he did not realize whom she was and jumped upon her hitting her in the head with his sword. And for this act she leaves him with an ominous omen, that she is guarding his death.

In the story she disappears leaving only a crow behind, but i wanted to portray some of her vulnerability as well as his stoicism towards her.
